When I got asked to do the makeup for Katie + Nick's (he is an amazing photographer ) wedding I jumped at the chance. I met Katie & Nick when my husband and I we're bible study leaders for a young couples ministry at Crossroads church back when they we're dating. I loved their theme: green, woodsy, earthy feel. And their venue, Oak Canyon Nature Center, was the perfect match to it. Being that Nick is such a talented photographer himself he also is friends with some talented photographers. Rustic Wedding Shoot (Behind the scenes)

I got the opportunity to work with the uber talented Kristin Rogers. She called me to do the makeup for an idea she had for a rustic themed wedding shoot. I was immediately on board! I contacted a few models and we planned out the collaboration.

It turned into something much better than we had all imagined. It's great working with talented, creative people, it makes it all so much easier. This is part one of this post, I'll be uploading the final work from the day.

Edgy Beach Shoot with Nicho Ryan

I got an email from Nicho Ryan asking to do a collaboration with a model from 29 Palms back in February and we finally got together. He wanted to do a swimsuit shoot with an edge to it and I think we nailed it. Our model was out of this world good and she killed it from beginning to end. Megan Owens was on hand as my assistant and also did the hair, I have lots of talented friends. :)

A Touch of Vintage Purse & Beanie Shoot

My friend has opened an ETSY store and her amazing photographer sister (who also happeneds to be my friend) did a photo shoot of her adorable beanies and purses for adults and kids that are all handmade. Soon she will have even more beanies and purses and will add veils to the mix, nice!

This shoot had a very "American Apparel" feel to it and I love it. When they told me the style of the shoot I wanted to make sure I added to the theme. I gave Eden a really fresh look that's appropriate for fall. I gave her about 3 layers of lashes and lots of blush. I also used a tinted moisturizer from Jane Iredale that I adore and some Victoria Secret gloss. Eden did her own hair and I think she did an amazing job!!

I loved all the hats and purses, especially the hat in the first shot, so getting that one! Eden did amazing job modeling and of course Kristin rocked the photography as she usually does.

BOLLYWOOD themed photoshoot for India

I recently did a fundraiser collaboration photo shoot with Dianna Lopez (hair) and Maegan Barnes (Henna) to raise money for our up coming missions trip to India...I'm so EXCITED!!!

We had a great turn out; 10 photographers, 26 models, 3 henna artists, 4 makeup artists and one hairdresser :)

Models paid to get their hair styled, makeup and henna done; they also got wardrobe and a photography session with Logan Cole Photography and Mike Berger Photography.
Photographers paid to learn, network and shoot our gorgeous models.

We had professional and amateur models alike and several talented photographers.

Candice & Geoff Tie the Knott @ The California Citrus State Historical Park

Candice and Geoff are a dream couple! They look like the walked of the pages of Anthropology. I loved her Tea-length dress and her hair piece, she looked stunning! They got married and the The California Citrus State Historical Park. I love the orange groves at this place, my husband and I took our Christmas pictures there last year.

Missy & Davids Camping Themed Engagement Shoot

I love this couple! Not only are they dear friends of mine but they are super photogenic, which I totally appreciate! :)

These two love birds meet at a friends house and started going to church together at Crossroads. Not only is Missy beautiful, but she is also a makeup artist, stellar dancer and teacher, missionary and sweetheart. David is rustic, funny, and an amazing singer and songwriter. He leads worship and Crossroads, you need to check him out!!

They wanted to do something different for their engagement shoot so they came up with a vintage camping theme that I thought was brilliant!! These two love the outdoors, hiking and camping...they even got engaged while hiking with friends!

With the help of the super talented Logan Cole taking the pictures I knew this was going to be something special. Missy did her own hair and wardrobe which I loved...and I may need to borrow some of her clothes from the shoot soon :) Enjoy!

Brit Week Charity event with Coco Eco Magazine & Jane Iredale

I recently got to participate in a fashion show charity event during Brit Week with Save the Children, Virgin Atlantic, Coco Eco Magazine & Jane Iredale. The event was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The Headdress' were inspired by the amazing Stephen Jones who couldn't be there or bring his hats because of the volcano eruptions, such a bummer!

We had the pleasure of working with some beautiful FORD Models and the very talented Judd Minter did all the hair.

Roya Jade is an amazing photographer in her own right so on her wedding day she had two wedding photographers: Heather Jagger and Dana Grant) in her wedding party, so funny! They also took some great shots of her wedding. Her actual "hired" photographer was Mary Frances.

Roya made a stunnig bride. She is only one of two brides who actually wore red lipstick on their wedding day and I loved it. C'mon Brides, wear RED!!

In The Knot again!

Yaay! One of my beautiful brides showed up in the S. California's "The Knot" wedding magazine.
They we're showing off her great taste in enamel hair flowers :)

I had the opportunity to do makeup at a In Style Magazine & Jane Iredale Spring launch. It was at a really cool Eco-Chic Beauty Boutique called Vert in Venice. They had everything "Green" there, from skin care to clothes, they even had a baby skin care line that was totally Eco-friendly. Anyway, we had a great time and me lots of cool people including the owner of Vert, Renata who started off as a celebrity makeup artist.

I finally got the opportunity to work with my friend who is also a wedding photographer, Pam Booher. She contacted me because she was doing a Trash the Dress shoot at Crystal Cove for a client and close friend of hers, Taleah Murray.

Pam had always wanted to shoot at Crystal Cove in the past but found it close to impossible to get a photography permit. After talking to several people and pulling a few strings...she finally got one with only hours to spare.

Taleah (the "Trash the dress" Bride) is not only stunning but smart and funny too. She has a great blog I follow called "Confession Mama" is honest and just plain great. Anyway the photos turned out amazing and Taleah is so beautiful she makes my makeup look good. And as you can see her family is beautiful too!

Prom Hair & Makeup

My friend Veronica offered to pay for her niece to get her makeup done for prom. Her friend was going to schedule their hair appointment together and decided not to go prom and not to schedule their hair appointment without letting her know. She found out on the morning of prom.

With no place to get her hair done she headed to her makeup appointment with me in tears. So I pulled out the curling iron and went to town...where is Melody when I need her? Thank goodness she loved it! She even said she liked her hair better than last years prom...whoohoo for me! Thanks Melody for all your awesome hair tips!

My TTD session

So we finally got to do our "TTD" session. For those of you who don't know what a "TTD" session is it's a relaxed/casual photo shoot in your wedding dress where you are not so worried about getting your dress dirty and therefore produce awesome, artistic shots.

I was very excited to work with "Dana Grant Photography" again. My wedding was over 4 years ago and it was one of Dana's first wedding she shot. When Dana first did my wedding there wasn't enough daylight or time to do some fun shots, so this was long overdue. She said it was our wedding that made her decided to do wedding photography for a living. So all you brides can thank me :)

The theme for our shoot was "American Gothic" so we used alot of country inspired stuff like cowboy boots, guns, my guitar and the American flag. I loved how the photos turned out. Thank you Dana & Jeremy, like always you out did yourselves!

It was a very busy weekend with a Bridal preview on Friday, a model photoshoot on Saturday and a TTD (trash the dress) session on Sunday, whhoooo, I am all makeuped out!

I had been studying and practicing for about two weeks prior to the shoot (view the blogs below) until I felt ready enough for our shoot.
Here are a few shots from the photoshoot. We took the pictures at a cool abandoned barn in Norco that Melody found, and this is what happend:

This is Shannon, showing off our "PUNK superhero" look. And man did she rock it!

I know this line is used all the time but this is totally the "blue steele" look from Zoolander.

This is Heavenly Joy (cool name) and we called this look "KISS groupie"
Here eyes were so blue that they were almost white.

I did a back to back a couple of weekends ago on the same day. One girl needed her makeup for a Wedding she was in the other was for her Baby Shower. They both we're so sweet and they looked so beautiful.

TTD (trash the dress) with Candy

Dave & Candy were married back in November of 2007. I loved their wedding theme it was "day of the dead" and their invites were little cardboard coffins, very cool! Click here to see their wedding.
They also did a cool engagement shoot in a cemetery, it was called "death to the single life" click here to see their engagement shoot.

So it was obvious that they would want to do a dark shoot for their Trash the dress/Day after pictures. They found this really cool cemetery in LA. and of course Dana Grant did the photos and I had the privilege of doing her makeup.The pictures came out awesome!

I'll post the pictures from that shoot later. But here are the behind the scenes and before & after of Candy's shoot.

Be we wanted it to be more dramatic so I created this lip color using MAC's paint in Flammable.

Cupcake Girl

So I posted our pictures on several makeup/blog websites and everyone kept raving about the "cupcake girl". She reminds me of the cupcake princess on the candy land game. Anyway I thought it fit Ally's personality perfectly. She is as sweet as candy. She is engaged and Melody and I get the previlege of doing her hair & makeup for her wedding...we can't wait! She will be such a beautiful bride!

Francis-stien/Bride of Frankenstien

So it was between Sarah Palin and this creature I put together and the Francis-Stien won.

John asked me "why can't you just be something sexy this year?" And I told him; "I am sexy every day of the year, now it's time to have fun!" He agreed and now I get to have some fun with makeup. I hope you like it. Again, if you need an idea or a makeup look for your costume please let me know and I'll post it here.

John thought I should dress 1940's style, and I think I puts it all together.

Bridal class @ M.A.C.

So I went to a M.A.C. class a couple of weeks ago in Orange County. It was a Bridal class so I had to go; you can never stop learning. I learned a lot about a makeup artist bridal business and a few tricks of the trade that this artist used. It was kind of cool because a lot of what she was teaching I already knew and was able to help answer the questions, talk about an ego booster.
Here was some makeup things I learned:

She uses paint pots as an eyeshadow base/primer
She uses face & body foundation and airbrush foundations with out the airbrush as a smudge proof/sweat proof foundation
She used a mixing medium for a foundatin primer.
Here favorite brushes were: #189 (face brush), #210 (precise eyeliner brush), #187 (duo fibre brush), #213 (fluff brush)

It was a lot of fun and now I will be working on downsizing my cases like she did so I don’t break my back.

Hey everyone! It's that time again, time to decide what the heck we will be for Halloween, I too am in that phase. Halloween is just around the corner so it's time to start thinking about it. I recently decided to try some new looks for the occasion. This look can be used for several costumes; flame girl, devil, witch, western saloon girl, wench, pirate, something Victorian, or even a couture Indian. Whatever you choose this look will be a show stopper!

Engagement Shoot with Erica in San Diego

Melody and I got to take a little road trip recently for an engagement photo shoot.

Here are some photos from Erica's Engagement makeup. The shoot was in Cardiff/San Diego. Erica stayed at a beautiful hotel called "Cardiff by the sea" for her photo shoot. Her wedding videographer was there filming the happy couple riding around on her fiance's bike and walking on the beach. They will later show the video at the wedding. Her wedding is going to be awesome!

This girl is so pretty she's hot! It was easy to do her makeup. Melody and I will be doing her wedding at Los Willows and we can't wait!

Pinup Looks

I recently joined a fun site called http://makeupgeek.com/ where you can give your two cents on your latest makeup purchase, show off a new look, ask for advice or just talk about life. There are lots of nice people on that site and tons of great makeup advice. If your a makeup expert or just learning the basics there's room for you.

So here are some Pinup looks I did for the site:

smokey eye lesson/ cheetah makeup

This next look was also a request. Here is a smokey eye tutorial and some cheetah print thrown in for good Halloween measure.

Start off applying eyeshadow base all over the eye, top & bott
om. I like using Urban Decays magic potion, MAC's bare canvas paint, or my new fave: MAC's paint pot in soft ochre. On top of shadow base apply a light cream/ivory shadow to brow bone and the inner part of the eyelid. My favorite cream color is Vanilla from MAC.

Next line all around & on water line with your darkest black pencil liner.

Smudge liner with Q-tip or finger. I find using my fingers works the best because it warms up the product.

Next add MAC's eyeshadow in Carbon(or any black shadow) on the lower half of your upper lid and right under lower lash line.

Take a medium brown shadow and blend with the black and up to the cream color.

Add lashes and mascara and you're done!

Don't forget the bronzer, blush, and nude lips.

With some fun Cheetah print added. (I did this around Halloween)

Amy Fry's Preview

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting another Amy who will be getting married very soon at Los Willows. She is super sweet and super beautiful as you will see for yourselves. I love having beautiful brides...it makes my job so much easier :)

Experimenting for a photo shoot ~ Crying Bride

I came up with this idea of a crying bride for a photo shoot. The idea is either that she's been left at the alter, her family is causing a scene, or she's a bridezilla and something has not gone her way, either way my good friend and awesome photographer, Jeremy Grant, dug the idea so so in a couple weeks we will be shooting "the crying bride" photo shoot. I will be the lucky mode/actress and makeup artist so I had to rehearse. I think these came out a little over the top, I'll probably want to tone it down a little for the shoot but we'll see what Jeremy says.

So here it is, the dress rehearsal minus the wedding gown and veil :)

2 looks one boring night

I was a little bored the other night so I decided to experiment with some different looks. Take a look:

Look #1 Cat eyes

This look was achieved by using Vanilla eyeshadow at the brow bone, carbon eyeshadow (as the liner) followed by a liquid eyeliner from Jane Iredale Cosmetics. Then I used Amber Lights in the crease and covered it with Honey lust. I also added Amber lights under the eye. (please excuse the eyebrows)

Look #2 Irish Green.

This look was achieved using 24 carrot green from Jane Iredale cosmetics

I also used vanilla eyeshadow (brow bone) and Bronze eyeshadow (under eye) from MAC as well. Let me know what you think

Leilah & Zacks Wedding~Palm Springs

My beautiful friend Leilah (the sweetest person you will ever meet) married the love of her life, Zack (the nicest guy you will ever meet) recently in an awesome 60's style home in Palm Springs.
It was by far the most fun wedding I have ever been to. It was a very eventful weekend filled with lots of things to do and lots of fun to be had! We came up the day before for the the wedding for the rehearsal. After the rehearsal we left for dinner at a local Mexican restaurant where we had great Mexican food and margaritas on the patio under the misters. The next day I got to hang out with the bride, Leilah and her mom at a resort and spa to soak in some sun and have some much needed downtime before the wedding. Next we headed over to the house to get ready for the wedding, lots of Leilah's friends showed up to see her get ready and laugh about old times. Then the wedding ceremony which was perfect in every way, followed by the fun filled celebration reception. Of course we still didn't have enough so John,(my husband) and I left with the Grants (who were the photographers) to go dancing at Costa's (scooby snacks are the best). The following day, while Zack & Leilah were doing their TTD (trash the dress) session, we were all back at the house enjoying the swimming pool, tasty BBQ and cocktails. Fun, fun FUN!!!
